University of New Hampshire hockey fans tuning into ESPN2 for the start of the NCAA Northeast Regional yesterday weren't cheering on their Wildcats; they were yelling at their TV sets.

NHPTV can't carry playoff games or NCAA games. NESN has exclusive rights to Hockey East playoff games and ESPN has exclusive rights to NCAA tournament games.

The reason they wont cut out is because of the amount of money they would loose. Can you imagine if you were the ones paying for the overtime lacrosse game and your game was cut out for a first period action of a semi finals? There would be no way ESPN would get that contract again. Its all about the money people. .. it always is.. greed just stinks!
- steve, concord

Are you kidding me? The UNH/BU game isn't on? Holy crap! What's the point of this? maybe I'll watch the dog challenge...? Shameful.
- Pete, Keating

Why doesn't COMCAST DO WHAT ESPN WILL NOT DO AND PUT THE CHANNEL UP FOR VIEWING?!?!?

That would be adding value for a change and not the other way around.

That's common sense and that does not equate with Comcast --just raise the bills for fewer options
- RG, Manchester

Why is this crucial game today being pushed to the least carried ESPN Network. ESPN must be showing more important sports games.

At 5 pm:
ESPN has the incredible dog challenge
ESPN2 has Drag Racing
ESPN Classic has Strong man competition
and ESPN News has ESPN News.

Hey ESPN, maybe instead of showing complete garbage you could show something people might actually watch.
- Josh, Durham, NH

ESPN should have done what they did with a game later in the evening, put the game on another ESPN channel such as ESPN Classic. Given the technology capabilities available nowadays there is no reason either hockey or lacrosse fans should have been denied the opportunity to view their respective games.
- Bob, Pembroke

I think it is shameful that NHPTV doesn't carry these games (especially the playoffs, men's and womens). They would actually have some veiwers then at least and may not have needed layoffs.
- Allan, Rochester

Our televisions have the capability of a picture within a picture....why does ESPN not have that capability as well. That way interested fans in the lacrosse game have their game on as well as UNH and ND fans have their game on also!
