Manchester – The presidential candidates are criss-crossing the state today as they try to solidify their support and reach out to undecided voters.
On the Republican side, John McCain will hit most of the state's major population centers in his "Mac is Back" tour which begins the day in Nashua at 7:45 a.m. at City Hall Plaza and ends in Portsmouth at 6 p.m. at the Frank Jones Center.
Riding a surge in popularity and encouraged by Mitt Romney's second-place showing in the Iowa caucuses, McCain is trying to re-capture the energy of his 2000 campaign when he soundly defeated George W. Bush.
McCain's bus tour also includes stops in Keene, Hanover, Concord, Manchester and Exeter today.
One-time front-runner and Massachusetts neighbor Mitt Romney's varied day begins with a corporate tour of BAE Systems of North America in Nashua at 6:50 a.m. and ends at 8 p.m. with a meeting with volunteers in his Manchester headquarters.
In between, Romney holds town hall meetings in Salem and Bedford, addresses Rotarians in Nashua and includes stops at the presidential primary landmark, Mary Ann's Diner in Derry, and a meeting with employees of Timberland Corp. in Stratham.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will hold three town hall meetings today in the southern tier of the state: at the Wattanick Grange Hall in Hudson, at PC Connection in Merrimack and at Adams Memorial Opera House in Derry.
He begins the day at Jackie's Diner in Nashua to catch the early lunch-time crowd.
Iowa caucus winner Mike Huckabee tries to show his popularity with young people at a rally with the local rock band Mama Kicks in which he will play bass guitar at the American Legion Post No. 7 in Rochester.
Earlier in the day Huckabee, who lost more than 100 pounds when he discovered he had diabetes, tours a number of eating establishments with movie star Chuck Norris, beginning with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at Parker's Maple Barn in Mason, lunch at noon for a "Huckaburger" at The Barley House in Concord and then dessert down the street at Bread & Chocolate.
One-time Libertarian presidential candidate Ron Paul has limited appearances today in New Hampshire with only a house party in Windham scheduled.
On the Democratic side, Barack Obama holds rallies in many blue-collar Democratic strongholds on the last day of campaigning, beginning at Claremont's Stevens High School.
His second rally of the day is up the Connecticut River Valley at the Lebanon Opera House and then he travels to Rochester for a evening rally at the Rochester Opera House.
Former first lady Hillary Clinton holds an ending rally with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, tonight at the Executive Health and Sports Center at the Manchester Airport as she tries to shore up her traditional Democratic base. She is also scheduled to hold events in Dover and Salem earlier in the day.
Former vice presidential candidate John Edwards began his "Marathon for the Middle Class" yesterday in Manchester, but is schedule to end tomorrow morning at 12:30 a.m. at an event at his Portsmouth headquarters. In between, he travels all over the state from Berlin and Littleton to Keene and the Lakes Region.
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson also has a packed schedule for the final day of campaigning. He begins the day at the Beech Street Dunkin' Donuts in Manchester and then travels to the Seacoast for a series of events.
Richardson holds "get-out-the-vote" rallies to end the day in Manchester and Portsmouth.
Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich campaigns today with actor Viggo Mortensen at stops in Concord and Manchester.
