I am a republican. I respect your positions on most issues as well as your record as mayor of NYC. However I am extremely disappointed with the pisition you have taken on the Fair Tax proposal.
I seriosly doubt that you have personally seriously studied it in depth, but have relyed on your "Tax Advisors" for the position you should take. The Fair Tax, if passed would put them out of a job. Why should should they give it a good word? Also, Steve Forbes has been married to the FLAT TAX forever. He isn't likely to get a divorce. We have had it in the past, most recently with President Reagan. Since then it has morphed back into the monstrisity that we have now again! As long as the monstrosity lives,it will be a threat.
I am nearly 80, so any changes are not apt to do much to my bottom line, but I am concerned about the future of this country. I truly believe the Fair Tax, and the rider which would eliminate all the hidden taxes, the hidden taxes, payroll taxes, corporate taxes, etc. would be a true blessing for our young people and make us more competative internationally. It would eliminate the underground economy, the illegal immigrants effect on the economy, etc. After all they do buy stuff.
We don't need another patch on a system out of control. What we need is fresh thinking. But most we need politicians who are prepared to place the interests of our country ahead of any thing else. They are scarce, but when I find them, they will have my support.

It would be nice if one of these candidates would talk about cutting spending once in a while. We keep selling the country off a few billion at a time.
Or is prioritizing a budget beyond the capability of these multimillionaires?

The flat tax is a really bad idea. Capital gains and dividends would be exempt from tax altogether, while wages would still be taxed as usual. How is that fair to the American middle class?
Our current tax system already favors the rich and powerful enough as it is. Like Warren Buffet has said, his receptionist pays a higher effective tax rate than he does! A better idea would be to simplify the tax system, significantly increase the standard deduction, treat all sources of income the same, and make the tax rates more progressive. The AMT should also be eliminated altogether, not indexed! And getting rid of the estate tax only helps the wealthiest 30,000 of so families in the whole United States, and would hurt the rest of us.
The tax policies that Giuliani proposes would only continue to increase the already historic income gap in this country. I really hope people aren't falling for it.

To anyone who believes this RINO (Republican In Name Only) about anything, may I please refer you to his previous wife and his children? This is the same RINO who maintained New York City as a "sanctuary" for the illegal alien invaders, who twice took the federal government to court to try to scuttle the deportation of illegal alien invaders, who supported the McShame/Kennedy "scamnesty bill", and who now - seeing the fury of American citizens over the tsunami of illegal alien invaders - is trying to convince us that he is something that he is not. Putting lipstick on this pig won't change the fact that he is an "oinker".

Liked everything I heard from Mayor Giuliani -------broadcast from New Hampshire on "C-Span's Perspectives" which aired Saturday pm.
My first chance to hear what his platform will include !

That comment from Clinton spokewoman Kathleen Strand is so ridiculous. "Senator Clinton knows that the Bush-Cheney economic policies are wrong for New Hampshire families and their stay-the-course strategy in Iraq is wrong for America." Since the surge has started to yield positive results, Clinton thinks it is wrong for our country. And the economic policies of this administration work; tax relief has been a benefit to me and my neighbors. Even the other US Senator from NY, Senator Schumer, wants to roll back taxes and regulations because they threaten New York City's leadership in the financial sector. And this woman is the front-runner among Democrat Presidential contenders?! She is ridiculously out-of touch. She could learn so much from the former mayor of a city she claims to represent in the US Senate.

Go for it Rudy, you are one Republican Presidential candidates I can enthusiastically support, you and Jeb Bradley and John Sununu will make a great team

I agree w/ the flat tax system. But. Everyone has to pay. This means that corporations need to pay their fair share on their profits also. We can not allow big corporation make billions in net profits then not pay on those profits. This net profit is made from the end user paying higher prices. It's really tough to read about some CEO getting multi-million dollar bonuses for doing their job. Then 1 of these guys gets fired by the Board and ends up with a settlement in the millions. If I were to get fired more then likely the only thing I would receive is my last pay check.
