Tancredo: 'We are at war with radical fundamentalist Islam'
HUDSON – Colorado congressman and presidential candidate Tom Tancredo declared yesterday that the United States was the last great hope for western civilization.
"I believe we are in a clash of civilizations," said Tancredo. "Terror is a tactic but not the thing we are at war with. We are at war with radical fundamentalist Islam." Tancredo made his statement during a visit to BAE Systems' facility in Hudson and told employees there that the global defense company's technological contributions are being used to defend the country.
He commended the employees for their dedication to the nation and to the troops on the frontline and stated that he had a similar dedication that inspired him to run for the presidency.
"I do this because there are a set of ideas and issues I care about and this is the place I have to go to impact them," Tancredo said.
Discussing his position as a "second-tier candidate," Tancredo said in order to get traction, he and the other second-tier candidates must perform well in New Hampshire and Iowa in order to make it to the next round of state primaries.
Luckily, candidates can campaign in New Hampshire and Iowa without expending too much money, Tancredo said.
Tancredo also had harsh criticism about the United Nations and the Unites States role in it. Describing the U.N. as a waste of time and money, he added that it has been corrupted up to the highest level and turned into "an anti-America debating society."
"We give 24 percent of the budget and receive 100 percent of the grief," Tancredo said.
During his visit to the facility, Tancredo was also briefed about BAE System's First InterComm, an interoperable communications system that could be used by first responders.
According to Mike Greene, BAE director of Homeland Security Solutions, First InterComm, ties together all the frequencies bands that first responders use. Using their existing radios, each agency would then be able to easily communicate with one another.
Tancredo also tested out thermal cameras used by the border patrol to detect potential illegal aliens trying to enter the country.
In addition to Tancredo's stop in Hudson he also held a meet-and-greet in Hollis and a town hall meeting in Merrimack.

Fats are Facts Islam is the greatest creator of Islamophobia, when the so-called Moderate Muslims shout it from the house tops that radicalism is wrong they turn away from violence I will believe that there are peace loving Muslims. The moderate Muslims are scared to death to stand up to therdical killers, they have no back bone. Hell the local Muslims could at least display an American flag on the web site and either hold or attend a memorial to the victims of 9/11 a tragedy by the way caused by Saudi Arabian wahabi's. Also please notice that I have responded and did not refer to anyone as a boob or xenophobic or denigrated other contributors perhaps they should follow my example.

Tom sounds like he knows what he is talking about. All this politically correct bologna is going to cause major headaches for our children in the future. Time is now to recognize what we are against, and act on it.

Tancredo and his allies are xenophobics with strong ties to white supremacists groups. NH is going back to the times of segregation, and bringing back KKK.

The rhetoric of Tancredo and Richard from Manchester disturbs me. Too many people (almost all who don't really know much at all about the Muslim nations they speak of) steer the discussion into a "all Muslims are evildoers" corner. To be sure, there are fringe elements of Islam that are very dangerous. The majority of folks in Muslim or Islamic countries may not love us, but they don't hate us or use terror methods to attack us. We only look like xenophobic boobs when we think that every Muslim we see is a terrorist. How to deal with the element of Islam which threatens us is a sticky problem. Giving in to paranoia about every Muslim in our community and around the world is NOT the answer to that problem. Maybe some effort to actually talk to and meet the local people who have built and attend the mosque would ease some of the hysteria?

TomTancredo is right on the money on the subject of war with radical fundamental islamists and it's a lot closer to home than one would believe. The local Greater Manchester Islamic Association is building a Mosque in a city neighborhood and they held a fund raising event in Manchester recently where as reported by the Union Leader the featured speaker was an Imam who appeared as a character witness for the blind sheik who was convicted of masterminding the first bombing at the world trade center towers, the Sheik was sentenced to life imprisonment. That same Imam also is known for having made a number of inflamatory anti American speeches around the US. Retired General McInerney in a recent address at the Political Institute at St. Anselm College alluded to the fact that an inordinant number of US Mosques were built with Saudi Arabian funds with Imam's from the radical Wahabi sect. We have reason to be very wary since we are the only state without a Mosque at present and vigilance is very important so that we do not become target of radical Islam.
Contrary to the assertions of the President, Saudi Arabia is not a friend of the US.
