Updated, 11:22 a.m. A Seacoast landmark, the Memorial Bridge carrying Route 1 over the Piscataqua River between Kittery, Maine, and downtown Portsmouth, will reopen at 1:30 p.m. today after a month of repairs.

Updated, 9:19 a.m. Motorists are still being urged today to avoid the Bridge Street area near a train derailment. Police said Bridge Street is still down to one lane but they hope to reopen it in time for this afternoon's commute.

Police suggest motorists use an alternate route: Sagamore Bridge, near Exit 2 on the Everett Turnpike (click to view map). Click here to view the City of Nashua's Web site for updates.

A box truck slammed into a tree yesterday off the Everett Turnpike southbound, resulting in serious injuries to a Massachusetts man and traffic backups, said state police.

IN AUGUST 2008, Brian Harris noticed a loose branch hanging from a tree in his Merrimack yard, just above a power line. Harris used his pruners to cut the limb. The branch fell onto the line, resulting in a year-long hassle and one big bill from the power company. "If we would've had any idea what we were getting into, we would've left it alone," said Deanne Harris, Brian's wife.
